  • Screenshot of ISIR Corrections – When submitting a file to audit with a pending ISIR correction, please include the screenshots of the corrections and the EFC page of FAME.
  • Removing SSI income form 16-17 ISIR (UPDATE) – If the student removes it themselves, there is no need to get proof of non-filing for the 16-17 ISIR (per Ryan Perry).  Ryan P. confirmed that if a student removes income from their FAFSA themselves, there is no need to prove the non-filing tax status unless there is a concern.  If the planner removes the income, then we will need the non-filing tax status proof.  This is ONLY for the 16-17 ISIR.

  • Copies of Social Security Cards – We cannot accept copies of SSCs. It must be the card itself.
  • Adding House Hold Size to ISIRs – The only time this can be corrected by the FP is when we have a signed verification worksheet and a statement from the student giving us permission to do so.
  • Parent PLUS Credit Check (UPDATED) – The Parent PLUS Credit Check needs to be run within 180 days. If you have a PLUS result that is older than 180 days please run it again. ***The PLUS Auth form is good for much longer. The form itself allows us to run the credit every 32 weeks.

  • SFAC – The only thing required to be correct on the SFAC is “Yes” to the question about graduating and “Yes” to the authorization field. The Estimated Program Duration dates do not matter. Neither CFA nor the auditors will dig into this form, but it is important that we fix any conflicting information we can see. If it’s glaring (99 dependents under 12), then we need to fix it.
  • Planner Changing ISIR Info (*Updated) – We cannot change anything on the ISIR unless we have agency proof. The number in the household, the number in college, and changing the dependents from YES to NO or the other way around can still be changed by the planner with a statement. This primarily relates to Child Support and Wages. SNAP can still be added with a statement for all verification groups other than V6. NOTHING CAN BE REMOVED WHETHER IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED OR NOT. The student must remove it. If the planner removes it then CFA requires a wet signature. *
  • Low Income/V6 on New DocuSign Forms – Statements from students should be very similar to what we have been collecting. The only difference should be that we have the student type the information into the form, rather than sending an email.
  • SNT Flag and Low Income – If the low income form or statements indicate income that should be listed on the FAFSA, and they are not able to make the correction themselves due to the SNT flag, then we need to make the correction to add it, wait for the ISIR, and then get a wet signature.
  • Previous Loans – If a student had previous loans the in-school deferment form must be in the file to pass audit.
  • Default Letters – We cannot schedule FAAs without having verified the default clearance letter first.
  • Parents Who Do Not Have a SSN – We need a statement from the parent, indicating they are not citizens and are unable to apply for the PLUS Loan. They also need to add something in the statement requesting that we increase the unsubsidized loan amount.
  • If Pell is Wrong in CVue– Lately we’ve had a few Pell issues where CVue only allows us to put in 2886 when they are indeed eligible for 2887. Email L-Dene Zamora if this happens and she can fix it.
  • POG’s for V4 and V5– This has to be an official transcript when dealing with these two verifications. Therefore if a POG is stamped unofficial or indicated that it is not official then we cannot accept it. Per Ed Kraus.

  • In-Kind Support – Words from Ryan Perry, “a student cannot claim a child if he or the child is being supported more than 50% by the student’s parents. All other support given to the student, including the spouses parents, is counted as in kind support”.
  • Planner Changing ISIR Info – We cannot change anything on the ISIR unless we have agency proof. The number in the household and number in college can still be changed by the planner with a statement. Regarding the “Planner Changing ISIR Info”, this primarily relates to Child Support and Wages. SNAP can still be corrected with a statement for all Verification groups other than V6.
  • UEH Rollovers – If a student was approved for UEH or the UEH appeal process for a previous module, but rolls to the next, please have the planner email online.cfa with the final decision (“approved”) email correspondence, so CFA can update the hold group for the UEH student. We will be able to use the previous mod’s UEH paperwork for the file, but please make sure CFA is kept in the loop. Ryan has agreed to reply to the correspondence with an updated “approved” email to include in the file.
  • Determining Dependency Status – If a student is of dependent age, make sure you ask the right questions to determine dependency prior to completing the PCE, etc. This can save you a lot of time having to update paperwork.

  • Business Income Form – This is only signed by the student or the parent. Send it to the person who had the income/loss from a business/farm. You will see on the email portion of the form that you can do Part B or Part C, most students are only Part C. If you have question refer to the email Christy Smith sent.
  • Change of Address Before Laptop is Shipped – If a student moves and contacts you about changing their address for their laptop shipment please send a new laptop form for them to sign. Once signed make sure it is in schooldocs.
  • Duplicate Files in SchoolDocs – Files will start failing if duplicate files aren’t deleted from Schooldocs now. Make sure to delete anything that is not needed in the file or that is duplicated.
  • Auditor Questions – Please be specific when you are asking if something will work or not. Explain why you are wondering so that the auditors do not spend extra time trying to figure out why you are asking. *Bad: “does this work” *Good: “can you read the DOB on this SS”. Be specific!
  • New Origination Fee – Starting October 1st the new fee is 1.068%
  • VA Transfer of Credits Form – This form needs to be filled out for every VA student whether or not there will be transfer credits.
  • Transfer Credit Requirement – We can complete an evaluation of unofficial transcripts and fully package a student with them but we do need the officials on file in order for the credis to actually apply to the student’s program.
  • ARM Approvals – When an ARM approval is given by Bret, we will be able to accept that approval +/- $100. This is the new stamp:ARM
  • ARM Approvals (Cont.) – Attached is a template that should be used for ARM approvals. The information listed in this email is required for the auditors even though Bret will approve them without it. Please make sure you are adding this info in there.
  • ISIR Corrections and Auditing – When sending a file in for audit that has had an ISIR correction to match taxes, please put the amount that was corrected not just “corrected to match taxes”.
  • Filing Tax Extensions on ISIR – If a student puts “will file” and says they filed an extension then we need the proof of the extension and the W2s are required. CFA will need to approve this and it all goes in the file. An ASNR will be generated so you’ll need to have the student update the FAFSA as soon as they do file.
  • Everest Transcripts – If the student wants to qualify for loan forgiveness then they cannot use transfer credits. If they use transfer credits and are already in loan forgiveness then those loans will go back into repayment.
  • Dislocated Worker – If a student qualifies for the dislocated worker when they begin then they must maintain a 2.0 GPA to keep it.
